Furniture with sex appeal can be sexy for two reasons, especially when we are talking about modern furniture design, which knows no limitations when it comes to forms, materials and functions.
Modern furniture that just look sexy because of its design and silhouettes are reminiscent of the human form, resembling the human body in one way or another, at times, a far fetched resemblance but most of the time, quite true to form. Take for example the Him & Her Chairs designed by Fabio Novembre for Casamania. Constructed using polyurethane which makes these chairs also suitable for the outdoors, the design behind Him & Her was inspired by two sources. The first and the most obvious of the two is the human anatomy, more specifically, the rear, bottom half of the female and male bodies. That alone is seductive, daring and suggestive. The latter inspiration comes directly from the iconic Panton Chair, which was designed by Verner Panton in 1960 and is considered one of the most sought after modern classics. Him & Her Chairs mimic Panton’s overarching silhouette, but introduce a sexy twist to the equation through the use of provocative elements. “They (Him & Her) assume sculpted forms like naked models of seduction…but they are not ashamed” Fabio Novembre.
