A small yet modern side table is a welcome element in any contemporary living space, representing a great spot to place a drink, a book, an accent lamp or a remote control. Especially since every other surface in the room is more or less permanently positioned, the small end table earns its functional ranks by offering the freedom of mobility, versatility of its size and the decorating powers of a “finishing touch”. Often available in bright colors, sculptural silhouettes and off-beat styles, modern side tables offer no stylistic limitations which is why selecting top 10 is so difficult.

Cappellini’s showroom at the 2012 imm Cologne focused on the modern living room and contemporary dining room environments, both of which featured their first novelties of the year. The new “Tate Color” dining chair by Jasper Morrison was on display in eight vibrant colors forming various wall sculptures. “Basket” sofa by Bouroullec Brothers and “Lotus Attesa” by Jasper Morrison dominated the living arenas in bright chirpy colors and shapes while the large “Simplon” dining table also by Morrison with an aluminum coated base and glossy white lacquered top was paired with “Antler” chairs by Nendo which added even more fun to the already bubbly atmosphere that so truthfully attested to the brand’s promise to be the “Explorers of design between imagination and reality”
