Green color in modern furniture design

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Often associated with tranquility, opulence and confidence, green color is a likely choice when designing a modern interior.  The color and its wide spectrum of hues that range from bold to subdued tends to make a memorable statement as it is seen with Bonaldo’s 2011 introduction, the Melt sofa collection by Mauro Lipparini.

Green color can be added as an accent to an all-white palette, or an earthy palette of neutrals through a side chair such as the Apollo by Patrick Norguet for Artifort.

Fifty Some-Odd Modern Fireplaces to Consider for Your Living Room

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

It’s no secret that the fireplace is the classiest focal point in any living room. Sure, wall art, super big flat screen televisions and even coffee tables can grab your eye, but the fireplace is a little bit more special than all of those.

Fire represents all that makes us human and for the first time in our species’ history, building codes are making it so that wood burning fireplaces are illegal to install in homes. As such, I thought I might pay an homage to that which brought us together before electricity was harnessed.

If you’re interested in some of these fireplaces, odds are they were either created or heavily influenced by Dominique Imbert. Dominique is arguably the greatest thing to ever happen to contemporary fireplaces and the person behind focus fireplaces.

With the trend of green in the past decade, EcoSmart Fire has really made a name for themselves in the niche. Anything you see without a chimney is probably something they created and it’s probably much better for the environment than traditional wood burning fireplaces.

Without further ado, here are fifty some-odd fireplaces to get you thinking about a new one for your living room (or bedroom or bathroom).

The first five are my favorites, but if you’d like to see all fifty-seven of them, just click on the “more” link!

Canape Cactus by Maurizio Galante for Cerruti Baleri

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Known to push the limits with its designs, Maurizio Galante capitalized on his passion for surrealism and digitalized prints with the Canape Cactus modern sofa that was presented at the 2011 Milan Furniture Fair the by Cerruti Baleri.  With an ironic and very memorable photographic print upholstery denoting a one-of-a-kind disposition, the Canape Cactus sofa looks like a very real display of thorny cacti, only the seating arrangement is much more comfortable having a high density structural polyurethane foam filling and internal support steel structures.

Stunning Modern Home In Hawaii

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

I thought it was time we covered another beautiful home on the blog and this hot on the market property fit the bill. This Hawaiian home is located in the most premier gated community within the Wailea Resort. This home really caught my eye with its design both in and out, so I won’t talk your ear off for too long and let the pictures do the talking. The home is situated on 440 sq ft, has 3 bedrooms and an ocean view from just about every room in the house! If you’re interested in viewing this home then we suggest you get in touch with Maui Realtor Brad MacArthur.
