Pianca’s “Berry” Trendy 2012 Living Room Collection

Saturday, July 21st, 2012

This year, living room collection by Pianca was dominated by bold colors with a particular focus on gem tones, bright shades and lots of saturated hues.  A completely revamped Spazio wall unit ensemble as well as equally fashionable upholstery collection allured with unexpected details and innovative material combinations.  While almost every piece was a conversation piece, shades of purple really stole the show.

New Trends – Milan 2012 Furniture Fair

Monday, June 18th, 2012

As with every year, the much anticipated Design Week held annually in the trendiest spot in Europe, lived up to its expected design climax.  New trends in modern furniture design and contemporary interior décor were prevalent and inspiring (as always) encompassed everything from new shapes to new materials and new utilities, albeit the ailing state of global economy.  Below are a few that were pretty consistent and highly noticeable throughout the fair grounds and across the who’s who of modern design biosphere.

Color Stained Wood Finishes – following the successful craze over colorful lacquer finishes that have been used over the past year, color stained wood was a natural progression, as was the case with Pianca’s new wall unit collection.

Natural Woods – while walnut veneer continued to remain extremely popular, solid walnut with natural, irregular edges was realized in the table top seen in the new Ikon and Ikon Drive dining table by Cattelan Italia.

Blue Color – cool tones of blue, aqua and cobalt were carried over from last year and was incorporated into one of the most eye-catching creation, the 36h modern armchair and 56h designer chaise lounge by Fabio Novembre for Driade.

Ethnic motifs – rich and eye-catching, ethnic motifs from all corners of the world were reinvented through sleek structures and incorporated into various surfaces including chaise lounges, table tops, and headboards of beds.  One of such inspiring trends was incorporated by Yaroslav Galant into a console and modern bench.

5 Modern Furniture Examples in High Gloss Lacquered Finish

Friday, February 24th, 2012

Transcending time and style, high gloss lacquer finish has been reincarnated in many forms and even more functions.  Originally from the Far East where resin tinted with charcoal or cinnabar adorned artisan objects, lacquer has played a vital role in contemporary furniture making, revolutionizing modern design and inspiring the likes of Eileen Gray and Eero Saarinen. Today, lacquer is as popular and widely used as ever, offering a refined eloquence with depth and textural variance that collectively and effectively contribute to its sleek and sought after appeal.

Ultimate Man Cave Design with a Modern Twist

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Attention all men!!!  Do read on if any or all of the following applies to your life…

Have you been signing checks and paying credit card bills, spending large sums on decorating your house the way your wife wants to decorate it?  Do you find yourself fighting for some TV time with your kids and your wife?   Would you like a secluded place for poker nights, pool games and sports events? Or would you simply want a retreat where you can relax and reload (similar to what your wife calls “taking a bath”)?  If your answer was “yes” to any of these questions then you are in a need of your own space.  And not just any space, the following tips will help with the design of the ultimate, testosterone exuding, masculinity epitomizing sanctuary or  “man cave,” as the pop culture would label it that is updated with the latest comforts and conveniences.

TV – big screen, flat screen or both are an absolute must in any man cave, but in the modern man cave, the TV must be nestled in a cool home theater entertainment center with built-in LED lighting.  Also great place to hold your TV and media components as well as video game equipment.  See the new models from Milmueble’s 2011 Gallery modern wall unit collection.
