Big Bend by Jeff Miller is a furniture article, a technological achievement, and a sculptural centerpiece. Manufactured in Italy by Baleri Italia, Big Bend is meant to be used as an executive office desk or work space where a large surface is required - the ultimate power desk. Sculptural and loaded with presence, the unique form also uses bent plywood and would make an excellent large-scale desk or dining table.
The creation of Big Bend is achieved via a break through technology in curved multi-layer wood. Two identical pieces of curved multi-ply wood form the legs and base, supporting a matching multi-ply or 12mm tempered glass top that almost appears to float above the base and legs. The desk is available in two sizes, with an oak veneer surface in light oak or open-pore asphalt black or lacquered in white red or black.
Optional Little Big Chair has a three-dimensional curved multi-plywood seat and a light elliptical aluminum cantilever structure. The shell is connected to the base only along the front edge and the seat remains visually suspended in space. Little Big is available with polished aluminum structure and oak veneer shell in bleached white, open-pore asphalt black or upholstered in leather in three colors (natural, burgundy and black). The aluminum structure can be painted in white, red or black while the shell is available in lacquered wood in the same color as the structure.
